Serving Manitoba since 1974

A Winnipeg homeowner reached out to protect their basement for the long term. Their old cast iron backwater valve — installed years ago — sat downstream of a bar sink drain that was still connected upstream, leaving that fixture at real risk of a backup if things went wrong.

Over two days, our plumbing crew removed the aging setup and installed a new whole-home backwater valve, reconnecting the bar sink drain correctly downstream this time. We also installed a new sump pit and pump, tying in the existing weeping tile and adding a floor drain for extra protection, plus a full sump discharge line run up and out.

While we were in there, we replaced the home’s aging radon mitigation fan and system with a properly sealed, sized, and vented setup — quieter, more efficient, and built to keep radon levels low without leaving anyone wondering if it’s actually working.

Everything passed inspection, and the concrete was backfilled and restored. Three separate systems, one visit, one basement that’s in much better shape than it started.

If your home could use a backwater valve, sump pump, or radon system check, our plumbing repair team is ready to help.
