Serving Manitoba since 1974

A Mitchell homeowner was ready to replace an aging heating system with something built for Manitoba winters and summers alike. We removed the old equipment and installed a new electric furnace paired with a cold-climate air source heat pump rated to operate efficiently down to -30°C.

The install included new refrigerant lines, updated electrical — a dedicated circuit, breaker, and disconnect for the outdoor unit — and a heat pump-compatible thermostat wired in for smooth operation between heating and cooling modes. Sheet metal transitions were rebuilt to fit the new equipment properly, and the system was charged, commissioned, and tested for both heating and cooling before we left.

The result is one system covering both jobs: the heat pump handles efficient heating and cooling through most of the year, with the electric furnace stepping in as backup on the coldest days. For this Mitchell household, that means lower running costs without giving up reliability when the temperature drops.

Brown’s Plumbing & Heating installs furnaces and heat pumps throughout Mitchell and the wider heating installation service area.
