A homeowner in St. Malo called after their furnace stopped firing, leaving the house without heat. Our technician traced the failure to a burnt-out main transformer, which powers the furnace controls, along with a worn blower motor capacitor that was making it harder for the blower to start.
Both parts were replaced on the spot, and the technician tested every safety control and the full sequence of operation before leaving, from ignition through to the blower cycling on and off correctly. That step matters on an older furnace: a transformer or capacitor failure can be a one-off, or it can be the first of several components reaching the end of their life around the same time.
The homeowner had heat back the same day, and now has a clear picture of the furnace’s condition heading into the season, rather than finding out the hard way on a cold morning.
