Lars Bruzell25 August 2026Got Scammed out of 300$ for a job the took 5mins. I paid 500$ for an easy fix, the lady said it's going to cost around 200$. Then when it was time to pay I told her I was paying in cash then charged me an extra 300$. Driver's fee 65$ I was told plus the work, I get that part, but the lady who fix my toilet said it was 85$ Driver's fee Thanks for reaching out, but there is nothing you can do about it. Probably wasn't in the system because she scammed me..... Her name was Sara by the way. Very unprofessional Problem i had was rubber seal around my toilet was leaking.... 500$ for a replacement. Farrell Ironstand5 August 2026Cameron showed up promptly at my house only a couple hrs after I called. Considering it was last minute, this was great. I had a faulty capacitor and the unit was very clogged and in need of cleaning (my fault). Cameron ran tests, inspected the furnace, filter and all components inside as well. Recommended only what was needed and suggested a less dense filter for the summer months so the system didn’t have to work as hard. He was informative and I really felt like he was not pushing unnecessary repairs. He did suggest a members plan that gives perks and some free services as well as discounts that I will likely subscribe to as I travel and am away for long periods for work. Brent Unrau25 July 2026Service fee of 129 does not include any services. I called for a capacitor replacement on my AC unit. The technician called and told me it was indeed the capacitor and that she tested to make sure it was fully operational after. The bill verbally was 367 I believe. I know that capacitor is 60 on the high end with a mark-up. They told me the fee is to show up and then I pay labour for Install on top of that. Plus parts, I then asked for a breakdown invoice because I'm confused what the labour cost is and the cost of the one part that I told them to bring was indeed the part they replaced. They were unable to give me an itemized invoice, folks itemized invoices should be mandatory on jobs like these. We need to know how much people are charging for parts and labour. The technician did say they could drop the service charge waiting to see the invoice. Hopefully can get this resolved. Just for reference it takes about 10 minutes to change a capacitor, it takes longer to run the AC through a test. She fixed the toilet's continuous running issue, installed a new shut-off valve (one we could easily use), installed a new safety release valve on our water heater, and identified two issues (not urgent) that we should consider for additional work in the future. We were impressed that she used footware coverings when in our house (something that would be a welcome idea for all in-home service providers) and that she explained everything that she did clearly with photos of each job. The company wouldn’t waive the $129 fee since I had to rearrange my Easter weekend to be accommodating. The plumber only moved water and sewer lines about a foot and refused to help me move my vanity so he could hook it up and ensure his new pipes fit. My daughter and I had to move it all in place..60” vanity with a quartz top was not light!!! D Isaacs24 March 2026First time using Brown’s. We had Marvin and Gabe come out to replace the exhaust fan in our main bathroom. They replaced the venting to the roof and also reattached the kitchen venting TO the roof vent. They used drop sheets everywhere, removed the garbage, and vacuumed. Excellent work; very personable, respectful of property, and very polite; quote was reasonable and the work was done within a few hours. Over the weekend our sump pump was acting up so I made an appointment online. I called this morning and through there new virtual assistant (I thought I was talking to a real person for a minute) I was able to get the appointment pushed up to today. Dont get me wrong I’m all about clear communication but when i say “no thanks I can’t afford this right now” or “I’m quite sure I can take care of this myself” unless you highly recommend it because it’d be detrimental to my house…then please just let it be. I know you’ll mark “refused offer/service” or whatever you put to make sure theres proof that you made the offer for your records but just leave it be. JAMES FRASER29 January 2026I would not recommend Browns plumbing and heating. I just needed a main line snake and have an easily accessible clean out in an unfinished basement. Very easy job. They gave me 3 options in the quote, $1500, $900, and $770. It was a $300 job. I had to pay the $129 service fee and asked them to leave. I went to Home Depot and rented an auger for $70 and did it myself. It took me 2 hours including transport back and forth to pick up the auger. For my time I would pay a plumber $300, plus the auger is heavy and it’s hard work I would prefer not to do. But not for $770, biggest up-charge I have ever seen. Imagine if someone didn’t know better and paid $1500. Quoted me close to 10 grand for a new ac unit. Superior was half that and a stand alone technician who is just as certified quoted me 3-3500 for a new unit. In 2021 I had a faucet replaced for a reasonable price (under $200) and then last year when I got quoted for the same thing, it was upwards of $600. I think their technicians do really good work and have been really pleasant, but they are very pushy with their upsell.
